He received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Clark University in 1973 and continued his academic career at Goddard College, earning his Master’s Degree in Psychophysical Re-Education in 1978. In that same year, Gelb became a certified teacher of the F.M. Alexander Technique of mind and body coordination.
Gelb edged fellow honorees Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, Garry Kasparov, and Gene Rodenberry to win the 1999 Brain Trust Charity’s “Brain of the Year” award, which recognizes superlative mental achievements and raises awareness for potential mental achievements that lie within us all. In 2003, he was awarded a Batten Fellowship from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business and from 2008 to 2012, Gelb served as the Director of Creativity and Innovation Leadership for the Conscious Capitalism Institute.
